It gets worse. Sin has not just corrupted us, but the entire earth too. Now instead of ruling this earth well and helping it thrive, we tend to treat the earth and each other destructively.
But God will not allow our sin to keep doing damage forever. He will destroy it. Otherwise sin will destroy his creation. The problem is that sin is in us.
To destroy sin is to destroy us. But God always had a plan to preserve us along with his creation, while still dealing with sin.
