“Christ died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them … This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
2 Corinthians 5:15,17
For us to know God personally, it cost Jesus his life. Putting him first in our lives comes with a cost too. Friends might make fun of us or exclude us. Instead of doing whatever we want, a Christian must consider God’s views on things. When we receive him as our Saviour and Lord, we are accepting his authority in our lives. We can be slow to trust authority figures though, especially if we aren’t convinced they care about us or know best.
