Baptised Into Christ’s Family

We’ve already spent time in Follow talking about the good fruit the Holy Spirit brings into the life of a disciple. Another part of the new life we receive in Christ is that we become his children.

Read Galatians 3:26-28.

  • What might it mean to be clothed in Christ through baptism?

Not only are we the sons and daughters of God, but we are all one regardless of background. Our faith makes us family! Baptism is our initiation into that family.

  • How do you feel about being the brother or sister of those who believe?

We believe it’s essential for every believer to be known personally by other believers. Groups of people coming together regularly to encourage one another in following Jesus is what the Bible calls the church. It’s our spiritual family. When we are baptised, we are showing our decision to join this spiritual family.

On a practical level, we would encourage anyone considering baptism to do so in the context of a church so that they can build long-term relationships with other Christians. Churches typically embrace every age group, nationality, and cross-section of society.

  • Have you begun attending a church since deciding to become a Christian?
  • Is there a church leader you know who you can talk about baptism with?
