Head, Heart, Hands: End Game

“Begin with the end in mind”. This is one of the habits expounded upon in the worldwide bestseller ‘Seven Habits of Highly Effective People’.

In the following Bible passages, Jesus and Paul effectively say the same thing. They describe the end of human history as we know it and how to live ready for the day Jesus returns—because it could be anytime.

Read Mark 13:26-37 and 1 Thessalonians 5:5-11.

Head (Understand)

  • Who are the writers of these two passages? Who are they writing to? For what purpose?
  • What is the tone of these passages?
  • What do you think it looks like to “be on guard/ alert/ keep watch” in daily life? (Mark 13:33,35)

Heart (Feel)

  • What kinds of thoughts and feelings do these passages bring up for you? What do you find most convicting or motivating?
  • How ready do you feel for the day Jesus returns?

Hands (Apply)

  • Are there any changes you want to make in light of this?
  • How could keeping this end in mind impact how we pursue growth from week to week?
