Reasons and Circumstances

Once we’re in a spiritual conversation, a commonly asked question is “Why are you a Christian?” We need an answer for this. We’re now going to think through the reasons and circumstances which led us to become believers. God is very real and personal. He has reached out and met each of us in different ways.

For some, God met a very real felt need in our lives. For others, we experienced him in a tangible way. For others still, we came to a reasoned understanding that Jesus was the truth. Perhaps others were simply struck by how Christians they knew lived their lives.

Whatever it is, the people we are talking with usually want to hear our stories. So it’s important for us to think through what we might share with them when this question comes up.

  • What things might be important to keep in mind when sharing our stories with non-believers?

On Your Own

  • Are you happy with what you might share with someone asking you why you’re a Christian? If not, what next step might help you nut this out better?
  • What is it that God is doing in your life right now that you want to try and share with the people on your list?
